In the Contest Rules you have this statement – ENTERING A SUBMISSION IN THIS CONTEST CONSTITUTES PARTICIPANT’S IRREVOCABLE ASSIGNMENT, CONVEYANCE, AND TRANSFERENCE TO SPONSOR OF THE FOREGOING RIGHTS. That’s pretty harsh language, what do you mean by that?

    • admin says:

Our intent is only to publish entrants images digitally on our Web Site (www.anseladams.com) or in electronic newsletter format. We will NOT be producing any prints for sale or marketing use, or using these images for any commercial use.

Basically, we want to be able to show what the winning image is on our various web properties and provide the appropriate accolades to the photographer.

Last year SmugMug offered reasonable protection against copyright infringement by not allowing copying or downloading of images from the website. This new format allows anyone to copy or download images. What can you do to better protect our copyrighted images? I will not upload anything that can be ripped off that easily.

      Bob,

I understand your point but can only offer partial solutions.
      1. I have installed right-click prevent on this site. But this solution has obvious limits.
      2. We recommend submitting smaller images (no larger than 600-800 pixels wide) and in low-resolution. The images will only be judged online.

The intent of this contest is a friendly sharing of our mutual passion for photography and to celebrate Yosemite National Park through the creative process. We do have to state “enter at your own risk”, but we have found that our audience is enthusiastic and respectful.

    Viewing Contest Entries
There was a bug last week with this Photo Contest that prevented site visitors from viewing contest entries. This has now been resolved.

    We apologize for the inconvenience.

  5. Stan McQuown says:

I uploaded an entry with the wrong title, how can I correct the mistake?

  6. Erica says:

Hi – I uploaded three images, but only two show up. However, now it won’t let me re-upload the third, saying “an image by this name is already exist”. Is there any way to upload my third image? Also, you might want to edit that pop-up. Thanks! – Erica

      Hi,

Did you try changing the image name and uploading it under a different name? If it doesn’t work, then it had already counted that image as part of your three uploads. This tool’s rules are strict and the Administrative Access does not allow us to edit titles, user data or swap images. Sorry, a good photo contest tool is hard to find.

General Information About Photos Not Showing and Mistakes Made During Upload:

    1) I uploaded a photograph with the wrong title, can you change it?
Sorry, the way this tool is built, we cannot edit the text you used. Please be careful with what you submit as the contest will display exactly what you enter.

    2) I uploaded my favorite photos from another Park or Country, my dog or my kids at the beach, how come I don’t see them?
The theme of this contest is “Yosemite National Park” and we will only accept images of or pertaining to Yosemite National Park. Every few days, we inspect all the images received to see if they match the criteria.

    3) My image didn’t upload right, so it is just showing a broken image. Can you fix it?
Unfortunately, whatever is uploaded is what will show. So if it is a broken image, that is what will be displayed. Therefore, we just turn it off.

  8. Terri Phelan says:

Hello – I’m just entering for fun, but was wondering if the photos that already have votes are from last year. Thanks!

    • admin says:

These photos are all new for this year. There is a bug in the software that allows a phantom vote (which will not be counted). The voting will begin on November 1, 2011.

  9. Judy Caforio says:

I uploaded three pictures yesterday, and went to “Save.” I don’t know if they were submitted correctly or not. Please assist. Thanks

  10. Jack Kirchert says:

It is sad that I entered a photo that is blank. I have entered two and one is not showing. Do I dare reenter the one that did not show, and take a chance that my third will not show? Or enter a seperate photo?

    • admin says:

Unfortunately, the blank will be counted as one of the three photos. Sorry, there is no way for us to over-ride the blank photo. Upload the one you think is best.

  11. It is now 6:18 PM (PST) Oct 31st 2011. As of now, I am not able to enter the contest. The message on the upload page says

    Error:

I’m sorry, you can not upload photos.
Last possible date for voting on the photos is 31/10/2011

  12. should I be soliciting votes from friends / family?

  13. Jan Favret says:

I submitted a photo before the deadline. It was accepted and was published with the other contest entries, visible for the first few days. I just checked today and it is no present among the contest entries; I reviewed all entries onlin. It was entitled: Yosemite Valley Sunset, Autumn (or perhaps Autumn, Yosemite Valley Sunset). Would you please let me know why this was pulled and if not, where is it?
    Thanks,
    Jan

  14. Jan Favret says:

    It has reappeared, thank you.

  16. It appears you have removed my Wawona View that had a serious number of votes. What was the reason?
